Dr. Answorth Allen, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon at Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) serving Manhattan, New York City, Westchester, Long Island and surrounding areas. He is a sports medicine specialist with a focus on shoulder, elbow, and knee injuries and disorders. Dr. Allen is also Professor of Clinical Orthopedic Surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City and has authored over 150 articles and book chapters on shoulder, elbow and knee problems.
Dr. Allen is a team orthopedist for the New York Knicks basketball team and a former team physician for the New York Mets. He is also a team physician for USA Basketball and an orthopedic consultant for the West Indies Cricket Board of Control. Earlier in his career, Dr. Allen served as assistant team or staff physician for New York Saints lacrosse team, New York State Racing Association, New York State Athletic Commission, Hunter Mountain Ski Sports Center, University of Pittsburgh and Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre.
